Clean & Jerk - Elite Individual / Teams

Clean & Jerk ladder 💪🏼

Elite Individual - Event 5

In this event, the athlete works his or her way through a series of stations with progressively heavier barbells. The athlete will begin outside the first station. At the call of "3-2-1 Rotate!” the athlete has 50 seconds to move to the platform and perform 1 clean and jerk. The athlete must successfully complete their lift by the 50-second mark. If the athlete is still moving at the call of “3-2-1 Time!” the lift does not count. The athlete remains at that station until the call of "rotate," at which point he or she will move to the next station. If the athlete does not successfully clean and jerk the barbell within the 50 seconds, he or she does not advance to the next platform.

Athletes will be given one opportunity to “opt out’ of a barbell. Should an athlete choose to opt out of any particular bar, at the call of “3-2-1 Rotate” they will inform their judge by throwing the “opt out flag” at the barbell on the floor. At the call of “3-2-1 Time” the judge will retrieve the flag, and the athlete moves on to the next station. Athletes will receive one opt out flag only for the entire ladder.

Elite Team - Event 4 & 5

This event will be performed as two separately scored events. First the female pair, and secondly the male pair will work their way through a series of stations with progressively heavier barbells. Each teammate within the pair will receive one attempt only.

At the call of “3-2-1 Rotate” athletes will advance to the next station. The first athlete will have until the 30 second mark in which to successfully complete their lift. At the 30 second mark, the first athlete will step back from the barbell and the second athlete will move forward to make their attempt. The second athlete will have until the 50 second mark, and the call of “3-2-1 Time” in which to successfully complete their lift. If the athlete is still moving at their designated cap, the repetition does not count.

After the 50 seconds are up, both athletes will remain at that station for 10 more seconds until the call of "3-2-1 Rotate!”. All teammates who successfully completed the lift will advance to the next station. If an athlete does not make their lift, they will not advance to the next station and will exit the floor while their teammate continues on.

Nice post! It reminds me of games like animedle where you try to guess characters with limited clues.

This event sounds incredibly intense because athletes must balance both strength and strategy under strict time pressure. I think the “opt out” flag adds an interesting tactical element, since competitors have to decide carefully when to save energy or avoid a lift that could stop their progress. I also find it impressive how every second matters, making the competition feel both physically and mentally demanding. Reading about this level of focus and decision-making reminds me of challenges in EaglerCraft, where I often see players planning their moves carefully to succeed. I enjoy seeing how discipline and smart choices can make a big difference in both sports and gaming.
